I managed to get a couple of auditions (myself) one was from 'Spotlight' and the other from 'Casting Call Pro'. They couldn't have been more opposite to each other. The first one took ages to get to and I spent all of 3 minutes in the casting room, the second was very close but I was there for hours.
Although nervous, I really enjoyed getting the chance to perform even though it was only for a 'mini' time. My monologue morphs into something slightly differently every time. I really do try to get into her mind-set rather than making the same learnt movements at each given part of the text. It is a piece about a woman who is in prison for murder and is reminiscing about her relationship with her father. I know when I've got it right because I end the 30 seconds emotionally exhausted but quite invigorated from her crazy, impulsive ways. As far as method acting is concerned I'm not going to go off and kill anyone although I was thinking about asking the local police station if they'd lend me a cell for a few hours, so that I can really see what it's like to be locked up for hours.
I love live performance, to guarantee that I do some over the next twelve months I am organising some monologues for pub theatre. Although I bet that will take twelve months to write! Maybe I'll put a couple of them on here?!
Fingers crossed that my agent can get me some auditions soon and that I get a part; I'm doing far too much writing right now and not enough acting!
